School
I started school last week. So far, most of my classes seem okay and I like the professors… except Algebra. Algebra is hard. And between work (working two jobs now instead of three, for a total of about 20 hours a week) and class (taking four classes) and homework, I’m feeling like I don’t have nearly enough time. I could also use a little bit more money, but that would require time, and then I wouldn’t get my homework done. So… blah. And I’m still unsure if this is really what I want to do. For some reason, I thought I would be more interested in school this time and be a better student, but let’s face it, I still don’t really care that much about school; I skipped two of my classes today for no good reason, just because I didn’t think we were doing anything important and I wanted to sit around at home and watch Grey’s Anatomy. (My roommate is to blame for getting me hooked on that show.) Basically, school is just like it used to be: slightly interesting, but stressful. Wouldn’t be worth it to do just for fun, but once I have my master’s I’ll have better job opportunities, like teaching at a college. So… I think I’ve changed my mind about getting teacher certification. Why get about $10,000 more of debt so I can teach in high school, where I would most likely make less money than teaching college? Plus, now that I’ve remembered that I’m not terribly fond of school, I’m thinking I probably don’t want to do the work. So I’ll probably just get my master’s in math and be done with school.

i think you made a good call on algebra. i am turning in 4.1 monday
i am in three study groups comprising 75% of students in the class and it’s barely enough. i really like the stuff but i completely understand your point of view on school. i can think of very few people our ageish that know what to do. luckily i am still pretty good at tricking myself and staying on enough coffee. how’s geometry?

Geometry is not bad at all. We have our first test next Thursday. He gave us a list of topics and some practice questions to study. I think I’ll do fine. Good luck with Algebra.
